Other Site Characteristics
La tourbière du Champ du Feu est située à l'étage montagnard supérieur à une altitude située entre 900 et 1100m (série de la hêtraie d'altitude) dans les Vosges moyennes. Les précipitations sont abondantes, 1600 mm, en moyenne par an, réparties de façon régulière tout au long de l'année et les températures fraîches (5° C par an). Le sous bassement géologique est granitique pour l'essentiel.
Il s'agit d'une tourbière bombée de type ombrophile à sphaignes.
Site touristique visité toute l'année : ski de fond et de descente en hiver, tourisme vert en été.
Pelouses subalpines fortement dégradées par endroit par le piétinnement et la pratique du pâturage (un troupeau ovin) en "alpage estival". |

Site de très haute qualité et d'importance nationale ; unique station française comprenant sept lycopodiacées et tourbière à fonctionnalité bien conservée : tourbière bombée ombrotrophe en relation avec un système de bas-marais et tremblants. |
