Anciennes carrières calcaire souterraines et tunnel ferroviaire désaffecté en zone de bocage semi-ouvert parsemée de boqueteaux situé à proximité de la forêt domaniale de Mervent-Vouvant au nord et non loin de la partie est du Marais poitevin (environ 10 km au sud-est).Les cavités des Perrières sont situées de part et d'autres d'un petit vallon. deux d'entre elles sont creusées dans un coteau calcaire recouvert d'un taillis de chêne, l'autre trouve son ouverture au fond d'une dépression partiellement remblayée dans une prairie. Les hauteurs de voûte varie pour les premères entre 1,5 et 4,5 m et sont en moyenne de 2,5m pour la dernière dont l'ouverture a été en grande partie bouchée par des apports importants de remblais (1999). Les portes d'accès ont été endommagées ou détruites . Le tunnel de Pissotte est ouvert et donc accessible par ses deux extrémitées. L'ouverture d'une des cavités de St Michel le Cloucq, située au fond de la dépression d'une prairie, a été en grande partie bouchée par le propriétaire exploitant agricole des terres qui souhaitait agrandir son domaine cultivable en comblant et en nivellant la dépression d'accès. Une concertation locale a été lancée en vue de la pose de grilles, la mise en place de mesures de protection (arrêté de biotope, réserve naturelle volontaire ) et des conventions de suivi scientifique. Une acquisition par le Conseil général de Vendée est en pourparlers pour la cavité menacée par les remblais. Le Tunnel de Pissotte est certainement fréquenté occasionnellement comme en témoignent des restes d'explosion de grenades en plâtre.

Cavités des perrières : Intérêt international pour l'hibernation des Grand Rhinolophes , Barbastelles par grand froid et Vespertillons à oreille échancrées. Tunnel de pissotte: intérêt national pour l'hibernation des Grand Rhinolophes et des Barbastelles par grand froid.
