Other Site Characteristics

Vaste cuvette inondable historiquement marquée par la maitrise des niveaux d'eau pour une mise en valeur agricole. Le site fait partie du vaste complexe de zones humides d'importance internationale de la basse Loire (estuaire, Grand-Lieu, Brière...). Pollution sur le bassin versant ; Botulisme ; Gestion artificielle des niveaux d'eau ; Recalibrages et curages excessifs des ruisseaux périphériques ; Déprise agricole et manque d'entretien du réseau hydraulique du marais ; Botulisme (rare depuis quelques années) ; espèces exotiques envahissantes.

4.2 Quality and importance

Les marais de Goulaine forment une importante dépression marécageuse reliée à la Loire estuarienne par un canal. Ils se composent d'une grande diversité de milieux entrecoupés de douves et de canaux : prairies inondables, marais, boisements, bocage. Les formations les plus remarquables sont des prairies hygrophiles à mésophiles, des ensembles de grands hélophytes (roselières, cariçaies) et des boisements inondables (saulaies).Les zones périphériques sont occupées par le bocage à Frêne oxyphille et Chêne pédonculé et par quelques bosquets.L'intérêt floristique est remarquable avec plusieurs espèces rares et protégées. La faune est diversifiée, notamment sur le plan ornithologique, batrachologique et herpétologique (divers reptiles et batraciens), ichtyologique (frayère à brochets très importante) et entomologique.
