Other Site Characteristics

Ensemble de landes et de boisements récents (pins, épicéas) enclavés dans un environnement fortement anthropisé (agriculture intensive, hors-sol, industrie agroalimentaire, zones urbanisées). La zone se situe sur le massif gabbro-dioritique de Trégomar, complexe magmatique rare en Bretagne intérieure de part la nature essentiellement basique des minéraux constituants (plagioclases, pyroxènes). L'altération de ces minéraux a produit des argiles relativement basiques (Ca, Na) à l'origine de la présence d'espèces floristiques à répartition essentiellement littorale en Bretagne. Le secteur retenu n'est plus soumis à exploitation depuis plusieurs décennies. Il bénéficie par ailleurs d'un arrêté préfectoral de protection de biotope depuis 1989. Les 3/4 de la surface sont propriété communale et le secteur privé devrait faire l'objet de convention entre propriétaire et gestionnaire (commune et/ou département des Côtes-d'Armor). La vulnérabilité des habitats et des espèces tient essentiellement dans la faible surface du site, dans le degré d'isolement des populations animales et végétales, et dans l'absence d'entretien/gestion pouvant conduire à un comblement progressif des mares, une fermeture du milieu, puis une banalisation de la faune et de la flore associées. L'établissement d'un plan de gestion est en cours.

4.2 Quality and importance

L'intérêt du site relève de considérations à la fois floristiques, faunistiques, paysagères, géologiques et culturelles. La nature du substrat est à l'origine d'une exploitation millénaire du site par des potiers. L'extraction de l'argile ainsi que l'entretien et l'exploitation de la lande par les potiers ont donné naissance à un complexe de landes, de bas-marais et de mares artificielles abritant un ensemble de plantes, amphibiens, odonates et insectes aquatiques exceptionnel. On note en particulier la présence d'espèces d'intérêt communautaire telles que Luronium natans et Triturus cristatus.
