Other Site Characteristics

Ancienne carrière souterraine surplombée par des terres agricoles servant de site de reproduction à plusieurs espèces de chauves-souris. Le site intègre le corridor de déplacement des animaux vers les terrains de chasse. Ce corridor se compose de prairies bocagères, puis de boisements. Vulnérabilité forte à très forte au niveau de la cavité souterraine où les essaims de reproduction des chauves-souris sont facilement accessibles et sont régulièrement l'objet d'actes de vandalisme.

4.2 Quality and importance

Site majeur pour le Murin à oreilles échancrées en période de reproduction (20% de la population nationale connue) et pour deux espèces en limite d'aire : le Minioptère de Schreibers et le Rhinolophe euryale. Colonie significative de Grand rhinolophe. Site en relation avec 3 autres sites Natura 2000 : Carrières de Saint-Savinien, Carrière de Bellevue et carrière de Fief-de-Foye.
