Other Site Characteristics

Le site des marais du Bec d'Ambès constitue une entité humide de grand intérêt aux portes de l'agglomération bordelaise et à la croisée de la Garonne et de la Dordogne qui influencent sa gestion hydraulique. Le site se caractérise par une mosaïque de milieux humides variés dont l'état de conservation est directement lié aux activités humaines s'y exerçant. Proximité zone industrielle et urbaine, changement de spéculations agricoles

4.2 Quality and importance

Le site présente, sur une surface importante, une mosaïque de milieux humides favorables notamment à la présence du Vison d'Europe et de la Loutre d'Europe. Les berges des jalles soumises à marnage sont égalment un habitat pour l'Angélique des estuaires, espèce endémique des estuaires des grands fleuves de l'ouest français. La proximité de la Garonne et de la Dordogne (sites Natura 2000) permet les échanges biologique entre le site et les zones humides du secteur. La présence de praires mésophiles de fauche, de praireis humides plus ou moins entretenues, de boisements marécageux et mésohygrophiles et de secteurs de lisière apporte une diversité biologique d'intérêt qui profite à plusieurs espèces d'intérêt communautaire (la Cuivré des marais profite en particuliers de surfaces importantes de prairies humides et de mégaphorbiaies) et à la biodiversité liée aux zones humides et bocagères. L'attachement des populations locales aux marais reste fort.
