Other Site Characteristics

Ensemble de côteaux calcaréomarneux ravinés ("serres") d'âge tertiaire (Oligocène, Miocène) largement occupés par des pelouses et landes-pelouses secondaires trés probablement en majorité d'origine pastorale. Présence ponctuelle de petits points d'eau représentant un % de surface négligeable sur le site mais à rôle écologique important : abreuvement de la faune, reproduction des amphibiens, habitat d'espèces végétales et animales aquatiques (odonates notamment). Extension des cultures au détriment des pelouses et des landes. Risque d'appauvrissement écologique des pelouses par l'extension de pratiques pastorales inadaptées à la sensibilité du milieu (pâturage bovin et enclos) Fermeture progressive des pelouses par densification du couvert arbustif, particulièrement lente en exposition chaude, plus marquée en exposition fraîche, accentuée par l'abandon du pâturage ovin.

4.2 Quality and importance

Pelouses du Xerobromion à nette tonalité méditerranéenne montrant des affinités avec les pelouses de l'Aphyllanthion et abritant diverses espèces méridionales en limite d'aire ou en aire disjointe sur le Lot : Leucanthemum graminifolium, Genista hispanica ssp hispanica, Globularia cf.vulgaris. Pelouses mésophiles à fraîches relevant du Loto maritimi-Mesobromenion erecti (Royer 87), sous- alliance limitée au bas-Quercy dans le Lot, et abritant des orchidées remrquables : Dactylorhiza sesquipedalis, Eipactis palustris. Flore d'orchidées globalement diversifiée et abondante comptant au moins 30 espèces, dont 20 participant aux Brometalia, parmi lesquelles, outre les espèces précitées, Ophrys lutea, Serapias vomeracea, Spiranthes spiralis. Riche entomofaune comprenant outre Euphydryas aurinia, bien répandue sur le site, diverses espèces méditerranéennes en limite d'aire sur le Quercy, tels le criquet Omocestus raymondi et les papillons Anthocharis belia ssp. euphenoides et Satyrus ferula.
