Other Site Characteristics

Ce site d'intérêt communautaire est dans un secteur paysager caractéristique et remarquable du plateau de Millevaches. La Gioune fait partie d'un réseau de référence pour le Conseil Supérieur de la Pêche qui assure régulièrement des suivis de populations de poissons. Le principal risque encouru pour ce site est le boisement des landes sèches.

4.2 Quality and importance

Située sur les marges nord du plateau de Millevaches, la vallée de la Gioune abrite une mosaîque de milieux humides (tremblants, tourbières, prairies humides) et de milieux secs (landes sèches, fourrés à génévriers) d'une très grande richesse biologique.
