Other Site Characteristics

Ensemble de sucs phonolitiques ayant une forme originale de dôme (pic du Lizieux) et coulée caractéristique. Ces Sucs caractérisent le paysage du Meygal. Fréquentation touristique sur le Pic de Lizieux et le Testavoyre moyenne et principalement estivale. Vulnérabilité du site : Fréquentation touristique sur le Pic de Lizieux et le Testavoyre moyenne et principalement estivale. Le piétinement humain et la construction de cairns sont les principales menaces sur les populations de plantes vasculaires. Le changement climatique est la deuxième menace possible pour les populations de Lonicera alpigena et Huperzia selago.

4.2 Quality and importance

Ces sucs sont remarquables au niveau géologique en particulier l'étendue et la qualité de conservation des éboulis siliceux. Ces éboulis siliceux sont en connexion spatiale avec différentes formes de landes d'intérêts communautaires. Ils accueillent le Merle de roche, espèce rare en Auvergne, ainsi que tout un cortège de plantes pionnières. Le site présente un caractère botanique remarquable : - Présence du raisin d'ours, espèce rare en Auvergne et du Lycopode dressé (espèce également rare en Auvergne) sur les versants nord. - Plus récemment (en 2018), la présence d'une population de Coscinodon horridus sur le versant le plus chaud et ensoleillé de l'un des sucs du site, au niveau de micro-habitats abrités et ombragés. L'inventaire de ce taxon exceptionnel, jamais encore signalé pour la France est une découverte de première importance pour la bryologie nationale et départementale. Cette espèce de bryophyte est présente sur la liste rouge de l'IUCN comme vulnérable.
