Other Site Characteristics

Il s'agit d'une galerie artificielle horizontale creusée sur la pente d'une colline et qui sert de captage d'eau. La galerie mesure 50 mètres et fait moins de deux mètres de hauteur.Située sur le versant oriental et au sud de la dorsale centrale du Cap Corse, la galerie se développe en rive gauche d'une petite vallée prenant naissance au col de Teghime (536 mètres). Le ruisseau de San Pancraziu, à écoulement non pérenne, serpente dans cette étroite dépression avant de rejoindre l'étang de Biguglia au niveau du grau. La nature géologique du site fait apparaître une formation à dominante schisteuse et roches vertes Ce site est situé en zone péri-urbaine de Bastia dans un secteur qui s'urbanise. Cependant, un APPB a été pris pour le protéger et le POS de la commune le soustrait à l'urbanisation.

4.2 Quality and importance

Cette galerie abrite un effectif très important de Murins de Capaccini en transit et en hiver. Il s'agit du plus gros rassemblement connu en France à ce jour (Référence année 1993). Il est possible que la présence de cette espèce en ce lieu soit due à la proximité de l'étang de Biguglia, grande lagune côtière. D'autres espèces sont présentes dont trois de manière anecdotique.
