Other Site Characteristics

Situé sur substrat calcaire, à une altitude variant d'environ 55m. La risque principal pour le devenir de cette mare consisterait au comblement de la mare et par l'urbanisation aux abords immédiats. L'abandon du pastoralisme (qui favorise la diversité végétale) serait aussi un facteur d'appauvrissement pour la mare.

4.2 Quality and importance

De par son originalité (structure géologique du plateau calcaire de pertusats, uniques en Corse), et la diversité de ses habitats, la région de Bonifacio est certainement l'une des plus riches de la Corse. Ce site comprend en secteur terestre plusieurs habitats remarquables dont une partie ont été inclus au propositions de réseau Natura 2000 (Lavezi, falaises…). La mare temporaire de Musella est l'une des plus remarquables de Corse avec en particulier la seule station française du Panicaut nain de Barrelier (Eryngium barrilieri) les deux autres stations corses ayant été détruites par le passé. Une dizaine d'autres plantes rares sont par ailleurs siganlées et plusieurs orchidées rares sont présentes à proximité.
