Other Site Characteristics

Cave is situated on the north part of Istria, near the Slovenian border and area called Mlini. Flysch sediments (middle and upper eocene - E2, 3); rendzina on marl or soft limestone. Type locality for cave taxa Troglocaridicola istriana.

- cave type locality for Troglocaridicola istriana - site is important for other endemic underground taxa - Marifugia cavatica, Sphaeromides virei virei, Niphargus sp., Troglocaris cf. anophthalmus - site is important for Leptodirus hochewarti; it represents connection between Croatian and Slovenian habitats for this species in Mediterranean biogeographic region
