Other Site Characteristics

Oštrica peninsula is situated in northern Dalmatia, south-east from Šibenik. Macchia which cover almost the entire peninsula is developed as successive stages of abandoned grasslands and are often retained as a permanent stage of vegetation, with no further visible succession to forest. Most prevailing habitat types are macchia of mastic tree and Phoenician juniper and mixed forest and macchia of holm oak with Manna ash (which represent final development phase of the Oštrica peninsula forest vegetation).

4.2 Quality and importance

- the site is important for conservation of Mediterranean macchia with Juniperus species.
