Other Site Characteristics

Dolomites and post sedimentary diagenetic breccia (upper albian, lower cenomanian - K16, K12); brown soil on limestone. The cave is situated in a wooded area on northwest part of Ćićarija mountain. Target species for this site is Leptodirus hochenwarti.

4.2 Quality and importance

- important site for Leptodirus hochenwartii reticulatus - the only known finding site of this subspecies in Croatia (very dense population); one of six subspecies of species L. hochenwartii in total and one of four distributed in Croatia - site is important also for other underground endemic taxa - Aphaobius milleri (endemic), Oryotus schmidti subdentatus (endem), Typhlotrechus bilimeki istrus (endemic), Anophthalmus schmidti istriensis (endemic), Zospeum kusceri (endemic)
