Other Site Characteristics

Simple morphological type karst cave located in Gorski kotar. Limestone and dolomite (lower jurassic - J1); brown soil on limestone. Target species for this site is Leptodirus hochenwarti.

4.2 Quality and importance

- important site for Leptodirus hochenwartii croaticus (big population) which is distributed in the area of Gorski kotar; one of six subspecies of species L. hochenwartii in total and one of four distributed in Croatia - site is important also for other taxa - Bathyscimorphus sp. (endemic), Parapropus sericeus sttileri (endemic), Zospeum kusceri (Red Book of Croatian Cave Dwelling Fauna - VU)(endemic)
