Other Site Characteristics

Site Uvala Makirina 1 is coastal part of site Makirina cove. It is situated along Pirovac Bay near city Pirovac and on its south and west side is surrounded by roads. This is an important site for salt marshes which pertain to low-lying and marshy coasts with oscillations in the tide and occurring on soils rich in soluble salts (esp. chlorides and sulphates). They are highly threatened by human activity (tourism, agriculture).
