  • Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics

Karst field Lapačko polje is situated in eastern Lika karst area near the settlement Donji Lapac, at 600 m altitude, between Mt. Plješevice (1657 m) to the west and Mt. Visočica (1124 m) to the east. In the middle of the field is hill Obljaj (661 m). Through the field flows sinking river Kula, and there is also a number of smaller springs that end in swamp meadows, peat bogs and sinkholes. During rains and snow melting field is flooded. Settlements and arable land are located at margins of the field. Through the field crosses the Plitvička jezera-Knin road. The field is mostly covered with grasslands. Meadows at lower positions that are very wet or flooded in spring belong to the association Molinio-Lathyretum pannonici. In the spring phase grassland vegetation is in parts dominated by endemic species Chouardia litardierei accompanied by species Lathyrus pannonicus and in parts also dominated by species Schoenus nigricans. In parts that are not regularly moved also species Salix repens ssp. rosmarinifolia is present. In summer grassland appearance changes - the soil is dry, sometimes with cracks and is dominated by species Peucedanum coriaceum ssp. pospichalii. Higher parts of the field are covered with dry pastures (order Scorzoneratalia) that are used for grazing of sheep and there species Helleborus multifidus and Orchis tridentata can be found. In the field there are small lakes where with Magnopotamnion vegetation type, and along the edge of the lake as well as the occasional streams wetland vegetation types Magnocaricion or Phragmition are present.

4.2 Quality and importance

- site with significant population of Scilla litardierei - important site for butterfly species Euphydryas aurinia - important site for habitat types 7230 and 62A0 - site with well developed habitat type 6410 - important site for habitat type 6210*, with presence of different orhid species
