Other Site Characteristics

The site is located in south of Croatia and includes springs of the River Cetina and Paško and Vrlicko karst field. Area is characterized by karst field and springs important for many species.

4.2 Quality and importance

- important site for habitat type 62A0 - important site for Sub-Mediterranean grasslands of the Molinio-Hordeion secalini - ass. Hordeo-Potum silvicolae H-ic 1963 and Deschampsietum mediae - important site for 8310 Caves not open to public - significant area for aquatic stigobitic fauna; 3 cave type localities: Lovricia jalzici (Gospodska špilja), Lanzaia kotlusae, Haplotropidius pubescens pubescens, Alpioniscus balthasari (Kotluša špilja), Horatia klecakiana (Vrijovac izvor); important distribution area for: Niphargus trullipes, Troglocaris pretneri, Troglocaridicola sp. nov., Sphaeromides virei mediodalmatina, Niphargus steueri kolombatovici, Oncopodura cavernarum, Chthonius cf. radjai, Macrochaetosoma troglomontanum troglomontanum - important migration site for Rhinolophus hipposideros - site with abundantly developed population of Chouardia litardierei - important site for butterfly species Protoerebia afra dalmata - important site for Croatian endemic fish species Cobitis dalmatina (syn. C. taenia) - this population o Austropotamobius pallipes is a remain of much bigger former population of river Cetina so this site is of great importance for the conservation of the species in Dalmatian part of Croatia - this is one of on two sites important for the conservation of Coenagrion ornatum in the Mediterranean Biogeographical Region
