Other Site Characteristics
| This area encompasses left tributaries of the river Butižnica and is an important site for Stone crayfish (Austropotamobius torrentium). Stone crayfish used to be present in the whole Butižnica but due to changes in hydraulic conditions caused by human activities its distribution area is reduced to tributaries of Butižnica. This is one of the few confirmed isolated populations of A. torrentium in rivers of Adriatic catchment area which they probably inhabited before elevation of Dinarides. |
