Other Site Characteristics

Žut, with its surface of 14.81 km², is the largest island in the Significant landscape Sit - Žut archipelago protected area. It is covered with rocky grasslands (pastures) whose vegetation is highly dependent on the presence and activities of people in this area. Although there aren't any permanent residents on the island, people still use it for sheep breeding, growing olives,wine and figs and for fishing. The coastline is very well developed with many bays and capes. The beauty of the landscape is emphasized by the contrasting colours of dark blue sea surrounding the white rocky surface of the island.
