Other Site Characteristics
| The site includes the estuary of river Mirna and their brackish lagoons with sandy bottom situated on the northwest coast of Istria peninsula. Its represents the habitats for Mediterranean salt marshes and birds as a resting area during their migration. The whole area is very much under human impacts (roads, bridges, quarries, arable land, fishing, etc.).
Lithostratigraphic unit represented in this area is alluvial sediments (b-aQ2). Soils: mars'�s gley soil, loessivized terra rossa. The mouth of the river Mirna is a ria. |
