Other Site Characteristics

Novigradsko more is the second largest sea in the Zadar county, with steep banks of Velebit area and gentle slopes of Ravni Kotari. Novigradsko more is bordered by the city of Obrovac, municipalities Posedarje, Novigrad and Jesenice, settlements Novigrad, Maslenica, Posedarje and Kruševo. Steep shoreline is preserved from usurpation while the area of Maslenica, coast southwest from the harbor of Novigrad and coastal part of Posedarje, are exposed to intensive construction of illegal buildings and the usurpation of the maritime domain. Novigradsko sea is very rich in fish, and suitable for the aquaculture of fish and shellfish, and due to enclosed character of the area and influences from the mainland, it is very important to take care of environmental protection which particularly involves preventing illegal construction, and waste-water discharge. Karin sea is the smallest in sea Zadar county, rich in fish and shellfish. Karin ždrilo connect Karin sea with sea of ​​Novigrad. Karin sea is bordered by city of Obrovac, municipalities Novigrad, Posedarje and Jesenice, settlements Kruševo, Karin and Pridraga. Substantial usurpation and devastation of the maritime domain is on the territory of Ribnica i.e northeastern coast of Karin ždrilo, a little less on the north shore of the ​​Karin sea, while the coast and estuary of river Karinšćica on the southwest are naturally preserved.
