Other Site Characteristics

Eccezionale compresenza di numerosi relitti floristici mediterranei e steppici rari (alcuni esclusivi) e insetti fitofagi loro legati: Aphillanthes monspeliensis, Telephium imperati, Ephedra helvetica, Argyrolobium zanonii, ecc., oltre a circa 20 specie di orchidee. Unica stazione, in Piemonte , sicuramente spontanea di Quercus ilex oltre a quella, formata da alcuni individui, del Forte Brunetta (Susa). Importanti arbusteti di Juniperus oxycedrus a Foresto. Tra gli Invertebrati: Agrilus croaticus, Apion velatum, Apion sedi, Pimpla illicebrator, Syzeuctus bicornis, Solatopupa similis. Tra i vertebrati Coronella girondica e uccelli rupicoli rari in regione.

4.2 Quality and importance

Mosaico composto da vegetazione steppico (-mediterranea), prevalente, di tipo primitivo o secondario, alternata a colture (vigne, per lo più in abbandono) invase da arbusteti del Berberidion. Lembi di ceduo di roverella, degradati, molto xerofili; rade pinete transitorie di pino silvestre e lembi di faggeta termofila con affioramenti rupestri calcarei e non. Gli Orridi di Chianocco e Foresto sono forre con pareti a picco scavate nelle rocce calcaree.
