Other Site Characteristics

Palude di origine artificiale, almeno in parte, con presenza di canneto e un piccolo lembo di querceto. La palude di Casalbeltrame si trova nella pianura novarese e giace su depositi wurmiani. Gran parte del territorio è coltivato a riso, per cui risulta fittamente solcato da canali e fossi mentre il nucleo centrale di circa 10 ettari è un'areaumida seminaturale. L'origine della Palude è artificaile in quanto l'area era stata coltivata a riso fino al 1964

4.2 Quality and importance

Importante zona palustre, in parte artificiale (ex "tesa" di caccia) frequentata da numerose specie di avifauna palustre rare. Rapido interramento ed evoluzione della vegetazione per drenaggio artificiale. Successivamente disseccata, ma ora in fase di ripristino sulla base di un dettagliato progetto naturalistico. L'area è stata soggetto a lavori di recupero naturalistico negli anni 1996/1998. Sono state create tre macroaree in modo da favorire l'insediamento della fauna. 1) un laghetto grande dove la profondità massima è di 1,50 mt e le sponde sono sinuose e degradanti verso l'acqua in modo dolce. 2) una zona internedia dove l'acqua è sempre persistente ma non supera i 60/80 cm . in quest'area sono presenti reti di cattura per inanellamento. 3) un'area denominata prato umido che però a causa di livelli presi erroneamente non mantiene l'acqua durante la stagione sstiva e l'ambiente tende ad evolvere in saliceto. In quest'area con fondi psr 2007-2013 sono state ricavate ulteriori buche per incentivare la riproduzione di anfibi e odonati
