Other Site Characteristics

Sponda lacustre con residui di canneto, molto discontinuo, alternato a piccole aree boscate. Area fortemente antropizzata.

4.2 Quality and importance

Con quello di Fondo Toce è l'unico canneto di qualche importanza del Lago Maggiore. Importante sito per l'avifauna legata ai fragmiteti e come sito di stazionamento per migratori. Interessante la presenza del raro Ranunculus reptans. Il sito protetto comprende per il 20% specchi d'acqua e per la parte restante ambienti palustri.

Il sito non ha uno specifico piano di gestione naturalistica. Dal 1993 è in corso attività di inanellamento dell'avifauna migratoria da parte dell'Ente gestore. Rimboschimento di essenze autoctone forestali. - Misure di conservazione per la tutela della Rete Natura 2000 del Piemonte - approvate con D.G.R. n. 54-7409 del 7/4/2014, e successive modifiche - Misure di conservazione sito-specifiche approvate con D.G.R. n. 31-3388 del 30/5/2016
