Comunità relitte di origine alpina di Vaccinium gaultherioides, al loro estremo limite nord occidentale sull'Appennino. Specie relativamente termofile negli ostrieti a roverella e cerro, a bassa quota. Limite N di diffusione di Doronicum columnae. Specie rare per il Piemonte anche in faggeta. Sito di riproduzione del lupo appenninico. Presenza di numerose specie prioritarie.
