Other Site Characteristics

L'area comprende i tratti terminali dei torrenti Arroscia e Neva che, confluendo danno origine al Fiume Centa. Sono presenti isole sabbiose. e le alluvioni, non terrazzate e non alterate in superficie, sono di natura ghiaioso-sabbioso-limoso.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito è rappresentato da una zona fluviale e di foce parzialmente degradata, ma di grande importanza per numerosissime specie di uccelli migratori di interesse comunitario, nonchè specie dellallegato II. Reperti museologici attestano la presenza di Emys orbicularis oggi forse estinta. In passato erano segnalate numerosissime specie interessanti di vegetali palustri, ma attualmente occorrono studi di verifica poichè gli habitat hanno subito notevoli trasformazioni. Sono presenti lembi di vegetazione forestale riparia (habitat prioritario) e sono possibili interventi di recupero ambientale. E presente Astigis saltzmanni, specie rara e tipica degli ambienti ripari, che è stato proposto dalla Regione Liguria per linserimento nellallegato II.
