Other Site Characteristics

Sono presenti aree di versante e fondovalle caratterizzate da forme a terrazzo e da aree piane in quota con pendenze medie molto modeste e da estesi versanti con affioramenti rocciosi. Di discreto interesse sono soprattutto le piccole zone umide (stagni e torbiere). I terreni sono riconducibili all'unità Ottone-Casanova. Il complesso di Casanova è formato da arenarie, brecce mono-poligeniche e masse di basalti e serpentiniti. Quello di Ottone (flysch) è rappresentato da torbiditi calcaree in strati spessi, calcari marnosi alternati ad argilliti. Rientra nel Parco naturale regionale dell'Aveto ex L.R. n° 50 del 19/12/89, n° 12 del 22/2/95 e succ. modifiche.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito è caratterizzato da boschi, praterie cacuminali, piccole zone umide e zone rupestri in buon stato di conservazione. Di notevole interesse sono soprattutto le zone umide (stagni e torbiere ) con specie in via di rarefazione,alcune delle quali prioritarie per la 92/43 CEE , altre protette ai sensi di varie direttive /convenzioni internazionali ed alcuni endemiti di rilievo. La presenza di substrati ofiolitici consente l'insediamento di habitats peculiari proposti dalla Regione Liguria per l'inclusione nell'All. I della direttiva 92/43 CEE.
