Other Site Characteristics

L'area è interessata da zone di crinale con forme a terrazzo ed aree di fondovalle con numerosi rii incassati. Il tratto costiero è costituito prevalentemente da una costa rocciosa con strutture tettoniche evidenti, intervallate da spiagge. Affiorano terreni riconducibili alla serie ofiolitifera del Bracco con serpentiniti, diabasi e brecce. Sono presenti anche alluvioni sabbioso-ghiaiose del torrente Petronio. Rientra nel Parco Naturale Regionale delle Cinque Terre ex L.R. n° 12 del 18/3/1985, L.R. 50/19/12/1989 e modificazioni successive. L'area è inoltre vincolata ex legge n° 1497/1939 ante L. n° 431/1985 e con D.D.M. 24/4/1985

4.2 Quality and importance

Promontorio relativamente integro, con pregevoli accostamenti fra aspetti a macchia ed estese pinete. Interessante è la presenza di piccole vallecole relativamente fresche e ricche di acqua in un contesto generalmente caldo ed arido, fatto che consente l'insediamento a ricche popolazioni di anfibi, rettili e uccelli. Fra questi ultimi di notevole importanza è la presenza di rapaci (favoriti anche da habitat rupestri ) e di numerosi migratori. Il sito ospita habitat e specie prioritari per la direttiva 92/43 CEE, vari endemiti, diverse specie in via di rarefazione ed altre protette da convenzioni/direttive internazionali. Nella parte più settentrionale, dove affiorano substrati ofiolitici , sono di notevole interesse formazioni peculiari dominate da Buxus e Genista salzmannii, proposte dalla Regione Liguria per l'inclusione nell'All. I della direttiva 92/43 CEE come habitat di interesse comunitario prioritario. Sono presenti anche Charaxes jasius e Gonepterix cleopatra (specie indicatrici proposte dalla Regione Liguria per linserimento nellallegato II)
