Other Site Characteristics

Zona di versante con presenza di culminazioni e di aree di fondovalle. In tutta l'area sono presenti estesi affioramenti rocciosi; ad E del M. Roccagrande si trovano zone umide situate in zone piane e orlate da terrazzi. In quest'area affiorano terreni calcarei ed ofiolitici. Nello stagno di Rocca Grande si segnalano resti archeologici risalenti all'olocene di notevole interesse.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il substrato, prevalentemente ofiolitico, permette il ristagno di acqua negli avvallamenti e la formazione di piccoli stagni con habitat e specie di notevole interesse floristico e faunistico. Alcuni habitat, con caratteri di unicità (formazioni a Buxus e Genista salzmanni) sono stati proposti dalla Regione Liguria come prioritari per l'inserimento nell'All. I della direttiva 92/43. Nello stagno di Rocca Grande si segnalano resti archeologici risalenti all'Olocene. Il sito ospita , oltre a specie e habitat prioritari della direttiva 92/43 CEE, un gran numero di taxa protetti ai sensi di direttive/convenzioni internazionali ed endemiti di particolare rilevanza
