Other Site Characteristics
| Tutta l'area interessata dalle alluvioni quaternarie del Vara e della Magra; vi sono depositi fluviali sabbioso-ciottolosi e depositi palustri limoso-sabbiosi. Sono presenti anche arenarie compatte in banchi e strati. Nella parte alta sono presenti numerosi rii e torrenti. Il sito si identifica per massima parte con il Parco Fluviale della Magra che ora confluito nel Parco Naturale Regionale del "Magra e Montemarcello". |
4.2 Quality and importance
| E' l'unico corso d'acqua di discreta portata e con tratto fluviale non torrentizio, che mantenga, a livello regionale, buone caratteristiche di naturalit. Alcune presenze floro-faunistiche risultano importanti per la localizzazione di margini d'areale e per la rarit a livello regionale. Gli habitat acquatici e l'intero territorio costituiscono un importante area (la piu rilevante per la Liguria) di sosta e di transito per i migratori. Il sito riveste anche unimportanza notevolissima per la conservazione di numerose specie di anfibi. Il sito ospita , oltre a specie ed habitat prioritari della direttiva 92/43 CEE, un altissimo numero di taxa protetti ai sensi di direttive/convenzioni internazionali, numerosi endemiti di particolare rilevanza e varie specie di interesse nazionale/regionale. Nel sito trovasi anche Hydroscapha gyrinoides, specie ad areale fortemente disgiunto, indicatrice di qualit ambientale proposta dalla Regione Liguria per linserimento nellallegato II della 92/43 CEE. |
