4.2 Quality and importance

La formazione naturale di maggiore interesse è la faggeta, che a tratti si presenta in condizioni molto buone sia da un punto di vista strutturale sia da uno floristico. La confinante parte elvetica del Monte è ricca di specie interessanti, soprattutto prative. Lerpetocenosi è caratteristica di unarea tipicamente montana. Il popolamento ornitico (42 specie nidificanti) risulta ben strutturato ecologicamente in termini di ricchezza specifica, la presenza della conifereta sommitale inserisce senzaltro un elemento di biodiversità favorevole per linsediamento di specie montane quali la Cincia mora ed il Regolo e per lubicazione del nido dei rapaci presenti. Per quanto concerne la mammalofauna larea si presenta con media ricchezza specifica, si caratterizza per una discreta presenza di carnivori (5 specie).
