Si segnala la presenza dell'habitat CORINE 41.b.31 (percentuale copertura sito 2%)

4.2 Quality and importance

Si tratta di un'area molto vasta che comprende tipologie di habitat assai diversificate, in cui è possibile riconoscere la serie altitudinale pressoché completa: dai boschi di latifoglie delle quote più basse ad alcuni piccoli ghiacciai residui alla testata delle valli. Da segnalare, in particolare, l'apprezzabile estensione dei lariceti, molto ben caratterizzati sia sotto l'aspetto strutturale che floristico, delle aree rupestri e dei macereti e, soprattutto, delle praterie d'altitudine ("varieti"). I confini attuali del sito escludono le formazioni boschive igrofile del fondovalle e alcune zone con presenza di prati da fieno ancora ben conservati seppur di limitata estensione; per contro includono aree, di superficie ridotta se confrontata con quella complessiva del sito, alla testata di valli limitrofe. Queste ultime non evidenziano particolari peculiarità e non ospitano habitat differenti da quelli già presenti nelle valli di Ambria e Venina.
