4.2 Quality and importance

Sito estremamente interessante in quanto sede di una delle più grandi e popolose garzaie della Lombardia che ospita numerose specie di avifauna di interesse comunitario ed, in particolare , la più ricca colonia della Lombardia di Ardea purpurea. Oltre all'avifauna ricche anche le altre componenti faunistiche e di buon interesse la componente floristica e vegetazionale. Presenza di habitat idro-igofili, ancor più significativa se si considera il loro carattere di relitto sfuggito alle bonifiche per scopi agricoli.
