Other Site Characteristics

Vasta conca di esarazione glaciale, avente la forma di U e scavata nell'Altopiano porfirico di Piné; in uno dei bracci della U si trova un laghetto residuo, di forma tondeggiante. La vegetazione è costituita da prati umidi e palustri, in passato sottoposti allo sfalcio. L'orlo del laghetto è occupato da una fascia di vegetazione delle torbiere di transizione, con un denso strato di sfagni, oggi completamente invasa dalla canna d'acqua. Sono presenti habitat di particolare interesse non compresi nell'all.I della direttiva 92/43/CEE, in particolare: Magnocaricium (Caricetum rostratae, C. elatae) (10%), Phragmition (30%).

4.2 Quality and importance

Ambiente torbo-palustre in una cornice forestale di pino silvestre che la isola completamente dalla aree circostanti, interessante la grande estensione delle praterie umide e palustri. Si tratta di un biotopo di vitale importanza per la riproduzione di molte specie di anfibi e rettili. Presenza di invertebrati dell'allegato II che indicano buona naturalità delle acque correnti.
