Other Site Characteristics

Lago di fondovalle (Valle del Sarca), con una cintura di vegetazione palustre (in prevalenza canneto) e lacustre (qualche nucleo di "lamineto" a ninfea gialla); in alcuni punti delle rive è presente anche qualche nucleo di saliceto a salice bianco. Il sito comprende anche le colline circostanti il lago, con boschi cedui di leccio. Sono presenti habitat di particolare interesse non compresi nell'all.I della direttiva 92/43/CEE, in particolare: Phragmition (10%). Habitat 6210 prioritario (stupenda fioritura di orchidee) con copertura dello 0,04% del sito.

4.2 Quality and importance

Lago di fondovalle con cintura di vegetazione elofitica, in una cornice ambientale e paesaggistica di eccerzionale interesse, per la presenza dei boschi sempreverdi di leccio, qui al loro limite settentrionale di distribuzione. Il sito è inoltre di rilevante importanza per la nidificazione, la sosta e/o lo svernamento di specie di uccelli protette o in forte regresso, e/o a distribuzione localizzata sulle Alpi. Presenza di invertebrati dell'allegato II che indicano buona naturalità delle acque correnti.
