Other Site Characteristics

Si tratta di due laghi (Lago Santo e Lago della Mar) localizzati in conche di esarazione (substrato calcareo), siti nella fascia montana inferiore, ai piedi del versante est della Paganella. Nei pressi si trovano prati falciabili e boschi misti (anche un tratto di abetina). Sono presenti habitat di particolare interesse non compresi nell'all.I della direttiva 92/43/CEE: Phragmition (2%), Magnocaricion.

4.2 Quality and importance

Apprezzabile vegetazione idrofitica; il Lago Santo presenta una cintura di vegetazione di sponda che ospita alcune specie rare in provincia. Il sito è inoltre di rilevante importanza per la nidificazione, la sosta e/o lo svernamento di specie di uccelli protette o in forte regresso, e/o a distribuzione localizzata sulle Alpi. Presenza di invertebrati dell'allegato II che indicano buona naturalità delle acque correnti.
