Other Site Characteristics

L'area comprende il passo che separa il Tesino dalla Valle del Vanoi e i modesti rilievi verso settentrione. Le fasce interessate sono la montana superiore e la subalpina. Sui calcari prevalentemente giurassici si trovano aree a pascolo, boschi di conifere e un rilievo con roccette di vetta. Habitat 6210 prioritario (stupenda fioritura di orchidee) presente solo in tracce.

La facilità d'accesso rende l'area - assai varia dal punto di vista vegetazionale e ricca di specie interessanti - adatta ad un uso di tipo didattico. Area di interesse internazionale per il transito di molte specie migratrici a medio e lungo raggio nel periodo tardo estivo e autunnale (migrazione post-riproduttiva).
