Other Site Characteristics

Il sito interessa in versante occidentale del M. Zugna, occupato in gran parte dall'affioramento di pavimenti calcarei inclinati e da antiche frane (marocche), solo in parte colonizzate dalla vegetazione. Verso nord è compreso anche il rilievo relativamente autonomo del M. Cengialto, coperto da boschi termofili e da prati aridi relitti. Habitat 6210 prioritario (stupenda fioritura di orchidee) con copertura del 4,21% del Sito.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il paesaggio suggestivo e selvaggio, unito alla presenza di alcune specie rare (legate soprattutto ai prati aridi), rappresentano gli elementi di maggior pregio del sito. Il sito è di rilevante interesse nazionale e/o provinciale per la presenza e la riproduzione di specie animali in via di estinzione, importanti relitti glaciali, esclusive e/o tipiche delle Alpi. Presenza storica di invertebrati legati a condizioni di grande naturalità delle faggete.
