Other Site Characteristics
Vasta area di torbiere boschi sulle pendici del gruppo della Presanella, in parte di pendio , in parte pianeggiante in parte di dossi boscati, con diffuse radure naturali nella foresta di abete rosso; la vegetazione è data da un complesso di numerose associazioni turficole, rare in tutto il versante meridionale delle Alpi. Sono presenti anche alcuni lembi di foresta di abete rosso su torba (torbiera boscata).Sono tra l'altro presenti torbiere basse fonticole a prevalenza di Graminace e Ciperacee e con aree di sfagneto e numerose emergenze di autentica torbiera alta con eleveti indici di acidità del substrato.; Nelle parti più a Sud si notano estese mughete, sia di versante che di torbiera. |

Complesso di torbiere sparse nella foresta di conifere, con specie molto rare, in un contesto ambientale ancora intatto e di grande bellezza, che ricorda i paesaggi nordici. Si tratta di un insieme di biotopi di vitale importanza per la riproduzione di molte specie di anfibi e rettili, nonchè di interesse ornitologico per la presenza di specie tipiche dell'avifauna alpina.Notevoli per interesse ai fini della direttiva europea le aree di interdigitazione fra foresta boreale e formazioni torbose. |
