Other Site Characteristics

Massiccio calcareo prealpino poco antropizzato. Il sito è incentrato sulla selvaggia Val Gulva, dominata da boschi misti, e sull'ondulato altipiano sommitale, dove prevalgono praterie alpine.Sul versante settentrionale del Colsanto, caratteristico rilievo del massiccio calcareo del Pasubio, in ambiente subalpino, domina una pecceta subalpina con cembri sparsi.

4.2 Quality and importance

Area ad elevata variabilità ambientale, poco antropizzata e a naturalità elevata. Apprezzabile contingente di specie endemiche e di rarità floristiche. Il sito è di rilevante interesse nazionale e/o provinciale per la presenza e la riproduzione di specie animali in via di estinzione, importanti relitti glaciali, esclusive e/o tipiche delle Alpi. Uno dei caratteri salienti del sito è dato dalla presenza relitta del pino cembro, l'unica nota nelle Prealpi sudorientali. Area di interesse internazionale per il transito di molte specie migratrici a medio e lungo raggio nel periodo tardo estivo e autunnale (migrazione post-riproduttiva).
