Other Site Characteristics

Breve catena dolomitica con creste, pareti rocciose, canaloni, mughete, pascoli rocciosi e faggete nelle parti più basse. Ambiente cacuminale e di cresta con rupi dolomitiche, canaloni, circhi glaciali, mughete e pascoli alpini e subalpini; è presente una piccola torbiera bassa. Foreste subalpine di Picea abies; faggeti di Luzulo-Fagetum; terreni erbosi calcarei alpini. Perticaie di Pinus mugo e Rhododendron hirsutum; arbusteti di Alnus viridis e Salix sp.pl.; terreni erbosi calcarei alpini. Rilievo prealpino con ostrieti, prati aridi, faggete, e, sul versante nord, vaste rupi dolomitiche e canaloni; nei settori occidentale e settentrionale sono presenti interessanti aspetti ad aceri-frassineto e carpineto.

4.2 Quality and importance

Ambiente caratterizzato da un esteso complesso forestale, costituito essenzialmente da boschi di Picea abies, con nuclei ad alta densità di Abies alba nella Valle di Roveto e Fagus sylvatica in Valle Fraselle. Nell'area forestale, nei pascoli e negli arbusteti di pino mugo sono presenti alcune specie erbacee a carattere endemico. Presenza di numerose entità endemiche alpine o rare (Aquilegia enseleana, Cirsium carniolicum, Bupleurum petraeum, Saxifraga hosti) e subendemiche molte delle quali protette dalla L.R. n°53. Nell'area in questione predomina una vegetazione costituita essenzialmente da formazioni erbacee adibite a pascolo. A margine dell'area a pascolo interessanti formazione di arbusti di alta quota. La flora è ricca di specie endemiche. Notevole anche la presenza di entità subendemiche e rare (Daphne alpina, Paederota bonarota, Laserpitium peucedanoides, Rhodothamus chamaecystus) molte delle quali protette dalla L. R. 53.
