Other Site Characteristics

Tratto di golena del fiume Torreano formato da alluvioni sabbioso-limose e calcareo-dolomitiche del post-glaciale recente in cui è presente la vegetazione pioniera di ghiaia. La vegetazione arboreo-arbustiva è rappresentata da boschette rivierasche a salici ed ontani molto infiltrati da robinia. Il sottobosco è spesso invaso da specie igrofile avventizie.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito è rappresentato da un tratto alveale e di golena esemplificativo di tipi vegetazionali dei corsi d'acqua a regime torrentizio della bassa pianura friulana fra i pochi rimasti in regione. Nell'area Triturus carnifex e Rana latastei sono molto rarefatti. Nelle acque correnti del sito sono presenti Barbus plebejus, Chondrostoma genei e Cobitis tenia.
