Other Site Characteristics

Il sito include quattro laghetti di diverse dimensioni ed in collegamento fra di loro. Essi hanno origine artificiale (scavo di vecchie torbiere). Uno di essi era adibito alla pesca sportiva, gli altri invece hanno visto una progressiva rinaturazione spontanea delle sponde arborate.

4.2 Quality and importance

Questa zona umida si trova all'interno di unarea bonificata con alte potenzialit faunistiche in caso di ripristino. Ospita numerose specie in transito spesso rare od eccezionali per l'area geografica, nonch alcune coppie nidificanti di specie prioritarie quali Ixobrychus minutus, Lanius collurio e Circus aeruginosus. La fauna ad anfibi e rettili dellarea ben nota, grazie a cospicui campionamenti degli anni 90 non ancora pubblicati. Nellarea sono abbondanti diverse specie di grande pregio (Bombina variegata, Rana latastei, Triturus carnifex, Emys orbicularis), in una comunit erpetologica che annovera anche molte altre specie di allegato IV (Rana dalmatina, Zamenis longissimus, ecc.). Una cospicua serie di campionamenti ancora inediti ha riguardato anche la comunit di micromammiferi, particolarmente notevole sia per labbondanza di arvicola terrestre italiana (Arvicola terrestris italicus), sia per la grande concentrazione di toporagno acquatico di Miller Neomys anomalus, che popola abbondante le splendide zone umide paranaturali situate alle origini del T. Versa. Nella zona sono abbastanza diffusi il gatto selvatico Felis s. silvestris e la puzzola Mustela putorius.
