Other Site Characteristics
| Geosito della prima collina tra Lesignano e Traversetolo, include le Salse di Rivalta e di Torre, le più importanti dell'Emilia occidentale, le cui emissioni fangose salate da pozze sorgentifere alimentano il Rio dei Barboj (onomatopeico Barbogli = gorgogli, borbottii che accompagnano gas e fanghiglie sprigionati dal sottosuolo), Rio che confluisce a sud nel Torrente Termina. Tra formazioni calanchive (Argille scagliose, al contatto coi litotipi sabbiosi dell'Elveziano) e colture erbacee tradizionali, praterie, ginepreti e radi popolamenti boschivi, il fenomeno sorgentizio dei fanghi salsi induce rade formazioni di alofite specializzate in ambiente soggetto a disseccamento sia pur a contatto di bordi elofitici. |

| Il geosito comprendente le salse più vistose del parmense include vasti ambienti aperti e termoxerofili (con caratteri di aridità accentuati dalla salinità delle emissioni salse metanifere). Numerose specie di uccelli di ambiente aperto, tra i quali diversi rapaci, e i radi aggruppamenti erbacei di alofile pioniere presso le bocche lutivome costituiscono l'aspetto saliente di una collina per larghi tratti selvatica e solcata da ripidi versanti. |
