Area di crinale con prateria di alta quota, brughiere, vegetazione casmofitica, ghiaioni, laghetti e torbiere di origine glaciale, faggete cedue, pascoli.

4.2 Quality and importance

Specie vegetali CORINE appendice K: Coeloglossum viride. RARE e MINACCIATE: Drosera rotundifolia, Triglochin palustre, Viola palustris. RARE: Armeria marginata, Empetrum hermaphroditum, Globularia incanescens, Leucanthemum ceratophylloides, Saxifraga etrusca, Murbeckiella zanonii. RARISSIME: Geranium argenteum, Salix herbacea, Gentiana nivalis, Rhododendron ferrugineum. RARISSIME e MINACCIATE: Swertia perennis. POPOLAZIONE APPENNINICA: Empetrum hermaphroditum, Lycopodium clavatum, Gentiana nivalis, Rhododendron ferrugineum, Salix herbacea. Specie animali: Chionomys nivalis, entità presente in regione esclusivamente nella fascia altomontana appenninica; legata ad ambienti di prateria di altitudine (nardeti) o ad emergenze rocciose (pietraie e ghiaioni); in regione è preesnte con stazioni isolate che rappresentano il margine meridionale dell'areale di distribuzione. Rana temporaria: le popolazioni appenniniche sono isolate. Sito importante per la presenza di Canis lupus. Presenza comune di Cottus gobio.
