Other Site Characteristics

Il sito è caratterizzato da un tratto di circa 4 km del Torrente Samoggia e da una cassa di espansione realizzata alla fine degli anni 90 su una superficie di circa 105 ettari. Larea è caratterizzata dallalternarsi di invasi lacustri con diversa profondità dellacqua, prati umidi ed allagabili, prati aridi e fasce boscate in evoluzione di salice e pioppo di recente formazione.

Importanti popolazioni nidificanti di Himantopus himantopus, Sterna hirundo, Alcedo atthis, Podiceps cristatus, Riparia riparia. Presenza di Emys orbicularis.
