Other Site Characteristics

Lembo residuo di bosco planiziale-pedecollinare su paleoterrazzo decalcificato a Quercus cerris, Q. petraea e Q. pubescens, già individuato a Riserva naturale regionale, compreso in una vasta area intensamente coltivata e inframmezzata a pendici calanchive, incolti arbustati e lembi forestali. Il bosco relitto e i suoi margini sono ricchi di specie calcifughe non comuni, geofite e specie nemorali d'origine subatlantica o submediterranea.

4.2 Quality and importance

Specie vegetali RARISSIME e MINACCIATE: la stazione di Serapias cordigera, costantemente monitorata, non fiorisce più da oltre un decennnio ed è attualmente considerata estinta in loco. Il bosco relitto e i suoi margini sono ricchi di specie calcifughe non comuni, geofite e specie nemorali d'origine subatlantica o submediterranea. Nidificazione di Circus pygargus e di altre specie ornitiche legate agli habitat xerici dei calanchi (Caprimulgus europaeus, Anthus campestris, Lanius senator, Emberiza hortulana). Presenza significativa di stagni con Anuri, Tritoni e Testuggine palustre. La posizione pedemontana di boschi relitti e la presenza di alcuni alberi annosi in un contesto di paesaggio agrario tradizionale ricco di siepi favorisce numerose specie ornitiche quali Allocco, Picchi, Lodolaio, Sparviere, Averla piccolo, Torcocollo, Succiacapre e coleotteri forestali come Cervo volante e Cerambice eroe.
