Area di elevato pregio paesaggistico con numerose testimonianze geomorfologiche della glaciazione wurmiana.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il biotopo presenta un contingente floristico di grande interesse fitogeografico con elevata presenza di specie endemiche e di specie rare. Presenza di estese faggete in ottimo stato di conservazione e castagneti da frutto di interesse storico. Tra gli Anfibi sono da segnalare la Salamandrina terdigitata e la Bombina pachypus, entrambi endemismi appenninici. Presenza oltre al Lepidottero Callimorpha quadripunctaria (nec quadripunctata), di invertebrati endemici.
