Other Site Characteristics

Complesso collinare litoraneo di natura arenacea, di notevole pregio paesaggistico e di interesse turistico. Caratterizzato da cenosi forestali sempreverdi e miste, macchia mediterranea, cenosi rupicole costiere e lembi a psammofite.

4.2 Quality and importance

Complesso ad elevata eterogeneità ambientale in discreto stato di conservazione, ospita la stazione relitta pninsulare più settentrionale della palma nana (Chamaerops humilis). Per la sua localizzazione l'area è di grande importanza per la sosta degli uccelli migratori, le scogliere sono frequentate da specie marine. Fra le specie terrestri nidificanti quelle di maggior interesse sono Anthus campestris, Sylvia undata, Apus pallidus, Oenanthe hispanica e Sylvia hortensis, le ultime tre molto rare e/o minacciate a scala regionale). Presenza, fra i Rettili, del Phyllodactylus europaeus, specie endemica dell'area mediterranea occidentale appartenente ad un genere per il resto a distribuzione tropicale. Da segnalare, tra gli invertebrati, il Lepidottero Callimorpha quadripunctaria (nec quadripunctata!).
